Office of Divine Worship

The Office of Divine Worship functions as a Diocesan Agency whose goal is to enable and effective pastoral – liturgical worship life throughout the Diocese of Joliet.

The Office of Divine Worship is located in the Blanchette Catholic Center, Crest Hill, Illinois, and is open weekdays between 8 a.m. –4:30 p.m. (Mon.–Thurs.) and 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. (Friday).

Reflective of the call of the Second Vatican Council for “full, active and conscious participation” of all in the worship of the Church, the Mission Statement of the Diocese of Joliet, and the 1989 Diocese of Joliet Synod Statement, the following services are offered by the Office of Divine Worship.

  • Liturgical Inquiries and Consultations for parishes, schools, RE Programs and Religious communities.
  • Confirmation (Parish) Scheduling and Inquiries
  • Environment & Art Inquiries and Consultations (new build-outs and restoration projects)
  • Formation and Certification Programs
  • Liturgical Resource Library
  • Workshops

Parish Mass evaluation is provided upon the request of the pastor. Parish Worship Commissions may request sessions covering goals, functions, planning, membership, policy and evaluation. Sessions will be designed to meet the needs of the individual parish. Workshops are provided to explore new liturgical rites and rituals and take place in cooperation with the Office of the Bishop and the Continuing Education of the Clergy.

The ODW serves as consultant to parishes, schools, REO and agencies regarding liturgical needs, questions, liturgical study, special celebrations, ministry formation, retreats & days of reflection, sacramental preparation and rituals.
